Larry Rasmussen, Ph.D, is Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics, Union Theological Seminary, New York. A special session at the the 2007 meeting of The American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature honored Rasmussen, Rosemary Radford Ruether, John Cobb, Sallie McFague, Norman Habel, and Calvin DeWitt for their leadership in theology, ecology, an ethics over the past quarter century. Rasmussen’s volume, Earth Community, Earth Ethics, won the prestigious Grawemeyer Aware in 1997. He served as a member of the Science Ethics, and Religion Advisory Committee of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and received the Joseph Sittler Award for Outstanding Leadership in Theological Education. He and his spouse, Nyla, live in Santa Fe New Mexico, where he recently completed the Master Gardener Course.
