Bill Grace and Larry Pennings provide vision, leadership, and primary program delivery for The Deep Hope Institute.  Check out their professional background.

The Deep Hope Insitute envisions a world where justice, compassion and sustainabilty prevail, supported by a social movement of Spirit-inspired and Spirit-empowered leaders.

Developing and nurturing spiritually vibrant learning communities where people join on the quest to manifest their own deepest callings in ways that benefit humanity    (Deep Hope Fellowship),

v

Acting as a "relationship broker" to convene multiple stakeholders, in a contemplative context to create opportunities for social innovation to emerge and take root (Contemplation and Action Tank), and

v

Creating opportunities for people to develop life-changing relationship with those whose lives are characterized by ongoing struggle for justice (Deep Hope Sojourn).

v

We also specifically challenge members of the Christian Church by--

v

Spirit     We affirm that the Spirit existing within and beyond individuals and institutions wills the good and calls us to work for the manifestation of good.

v

Community     We recognize that the challenge of animating social progress is so great that it must proceed from vital relationship with others where we are continually challenged to reach for our best and sustained when exhausted or wounded from pursuing the quest.

v

Courage     We perceive that the urgency of this moment in global history calls for committed people of good conscience to take bold action to enact social change.

v

Healing     We believe that a spirit of forgiveness and a commitment to the work of reconciliation can mend human division, bringing wholeness to individuals and society.

v

Awareness     We commit to the discipline of discerning the invisible forces at work within persons and institutions which may either encourage or inhibit the establishment of the common good, and we seek to order our lives on the basis of our awakening consciousness.

v

Compassion     We do not turn away from suffering but seek to identify with the pain of others in order to be more instrumental in alleviating it.

v

Hope     In spite of the depth of brokeness in the world, we cling to the redemptive possibility that issues from active human collaboration with Spirit's constant re-creation.

A profound moment of spiritual insight was the seed of the Deep Hope dream for founder, Bill Grace.  A desire for people of differing faiths to coexist and share the long-contested Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, grew to an all-encompassing vision of a diverse humanity learning to share the global "rock" from which all creation draws life and sustenance.
